As one of the institutions strategies in gearing towards universityhood, the NONESCOST Benchmarking Team visited three top academic institutions of Central Luzon: Bulacan State University, Holy Angel University and Central Luzon State University.

Headed by NONESCOST President Dr. Renante Egcas, the team took note of the best practices presented by the aforementioned universities in areas of instruction, research, extension and administration. The team also pursued partnership and collaboration opportunities and were able to meet with the top management of the universities including Dr. Cecilia S. Navasero-Gascon (BulSU President) and Dr. Edgar A. Orden (CLSU President).

Members of the benchmarking team included NONESCOST Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Samson M. Lausa, the External and International Affairs Office, the College of Nursing, the College of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, the College of Business and Management, the College of Education and the College of Criminal Justice Education.

During the trip, the team was able to visit each university’s facilities and laboratories and learn about their systems for quality assurance and initiatives for internationalization. The team was also able to visit the Confucius Institute situated in Bulacan State University, Holy Angel University’s museum on Kapampangan Culture and student-run restaurant Cafe Juan, Central Luzon State University’s Small Ruminant Center, Ramon Magsaysay-Center for Agricultural Resources and Environmental Studies (RM-CARES) and the Precision and Digital Agriculture Center.

Bulacan State University through the office of Executive Vice President Dr. Teody C. San Andres served as NONESCOST’s host university for the 5-day activity.

Through this activity, NONESCOST hopes to assimilate the values and practices that have enabled these institutions to uphold a brand of quality education and become centers for excellence in their respective fields, and use these tools in its own journey towards universityhood.
