Strengthening Bagong-Silang Community through Gender Equality and Women Empowerment
Along with the month-long celebration of Women’s Month, the Extension Services Office (ESO) and Gender and Development (GAD) Office in coordination with College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) conducted a forum dubbed “Strengthening Community Partners Through Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.” The forum was participated by CAS community partners from Brgy. Bagong Silang of Don Salvador Benedicto and facilitated by CAS faculty. About 30 women actively engaged in the discussion headed by Jackielee A. Anacleto, Director, GAD.
The discussion was focused on “Agenda ng Kababaihan”: Trade, Industry, and Services; Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries; Labor and Employment; Health and Nutrition; Education; Shelter; Gender-Based Violence and Justice System among others.
The OIC of Extension Services, Ryan J. Moreno talked about the services offered by the office and its willingness to reach out to the community by extending programs beneficial to the lives of the partners. Philamer T. Pederina, Associate Dean of CAS, mentioned the trainings-in-progress on Pineapple Cupcake Making already provided by the CAS Extension Team. This training is under the Program “Sa Malata May Kwarta Dira.”
Other projects included are Pineapple Vinegar Making, Pineapple Jam Making, and Nata de Pinya Making.
